Having eagerly anticipated attending the college theme parties promoted by movies like Animal House, etc. I was a quite disappointed when even the best college parties paled in comparison with what I'd come to believe a theme party experience ought to be like.
In 1997 I founded the MAX Adventure Network, a Seattle internet-based social network, and starting with a group of 100 friends I organized bar nights, outdoor activities and weekend adventures. Over time MAX membership grew to over a thousand individuals throughout the Greater Seattle area which is really no big deal now ~ though we it's noteworthy to point out this happened to be 7 years prior to facebook when websites for social groups were rare and email newsletters were a recent invention. Along the way I introduced a series of original concept theme parties starting with - "The Black, White & Red" and with each party I developed a formula for fun based on my original vision of what I thought those college parties should have been like along with applying what I'd learned from my own experiences working in the hospitality and entertainment world for the likes of Disney World, One Reel, Festivals Inc. and Cirque du Soleil. In the spring of 2000 I produced the 1st ever Kilt & Mini Bash as a naive attempt to reduce the headcount at my parties by requiring my guests to don kilts and miniskirts ~ though much to my surprise even more people attended than previously!
The Kilt & Mini Bash continued growing in popularity until in 2004 the Bash became a city-wide, ticketed "Theme Event" held at the Pier 66 Bay Pavilion on the Seattle waterfront and attractiover 400 guests from throughout the Pacific Northwest and as far away as Denver, Texas and New York and participation from national sponsors including The Pepsi Bottling Group, Absolut Vodka, Red Bull along with a small arts-driven company named Form Follows Function founded by Steven Villegas & Megan Haas whom together had recently introduced the world to the now internationally famous kilt innovation the Utilikilt, as a means to raise funds for an arts tour in retrofitted double-decker buses.
To date the Kilt & Mini has been produced 7 times, has created close to a thousand new kilt owners and has become one of the most eagerly awaited annual events for an ever growing number. On April 10, 2010 the Kilt & Mini will once again raise the bar for what consumer themed entertainment should look, sound, feel and be like as we do everything we can to provide you a memorable experience we aim to be one of your favorite events of the year!
Note: The "Theme Event" is the generic name I've given to the type of entertainment experience I produce, not merely a theme party ~ I put my heart and soul into every event to make sure you walk away with a happy memory that lasts. Therefore in planning for the future MAX has been rebranded to Epic Odyssey® which loosely translates to "grand voyage", as it is our mission to transport you to other worlds of entertainment. Thanks for taking the time to read our history and we both invite and look forward to your participation in our upcoming adventures!
Thanks for your support!
